Glimpses of Merida

"Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without."  We don't really follow that motto in America today, but here in Merida, everything is used until it literally falls apart.  We found this rake leaning against the wall in a lovely French bakery called Cafe Crema.  They use it to keep the gravel smooth in the garden area.

Basic transportation in Merida is often a scooter.  This family would never be allowed to ride in Texas like this. (That is not a doll between the mom and dad.)  We would be appalled at the little child on this scooter if this occurred in Belton.  No ones thinks anything about it here as this is often their only means of transportation. At least the parents have on helmets!

Susan has been working hard on her art here in Merida.

Here is her Argentine art teacher, Juan Pablo Bavio, in his artist studio.  He is a fantastic artist and complimented Susan's talent. His work showcases Mayan faces, especially the eyes and nose.

Night life in Merida:  The streets around the Grande Plaza are closed several nights a week for the people to enjoy the park, musicians, and art until late night.
